Beside this, the Punjab government has also directed all the district authorities to remain vigilant round the clock during the next few days as the water level in Bhakhra and Pong dams is about to cross the danger point.
As per latest updates, the Punjab government has activated the Disaster Control Room and the Indian Army has been asked to get ready to tackle any untoward situation.
All the district authorities have been told to arrange equipment to drain out flood waters and the districts in the catchment areas of three rivers have been asked to arrange enough boats to rescue the affected people.
According to the information shared by the Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB), the water level in the Pong Dam is 1,385 feet as against the capacity of 1,400 feet due to which water may be released from Gate No. 52. Residents of Mukerian, Tanda, and Dasuya area have been alerted in this concern.
The water level in Bhakhra Dam is still at 1622.71 meters against the capacity of 1662 meters, which is about 39 meters below the danger level. The BBMB would however release the water only after water level reaches 1680 feet. There is nothing to panic so far.
It has come to fore that the water level in Ranjit Sagar Dam has touched a record height today at 525.65 meters following which the spillway gate no. 4 of the dam was opened up to one meter height at 06:50 am.
Meanwhile, Sikh24 has learnt that the flood gates of Chamera Dam (Himachal Pradesh) opening into the Ghaghar River have been opened, posing a serious threat of floods in Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa districts of Punjab and areas along the Ghaghar river in neighboring Haryana.
