Sidelining Sikh Sentiments, Jathedar Mand Ends Bargari Morcha; Announces to Change Outline of Morcha
Posted: 09 Dec 2018 07:49 AM PSTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Sarbat Khalsa appointed Takht Jathedars today announced to change the outline of the Bargari agitation while ending the ongoing strike named “Insaaf Morcha” in the grain market of Bargari. It is learnt that the Punjab government had almost convinced the Takht Jathedars to end the “Insaaf Morcha” ongoing at Bargari but the depiction of disagreement by the Sikh masses left no way out for the Takht Jathedars.
As soon as the Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa started addressing the Sikh gathering at Bargari, the Sikh masses started walking out of the venue. Observing the situation, Bajwa tried to convince the protesting Sikhs by saying that he had come there just on behalf of the Punjab government and taking decision to end the “Insaaf Morcha” is in the hands of Takht Jathedars.
The organizers of Bargari agitation including Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal tried to pacify the Sikh protesters by recalling the various “successes” of Bargari agitation but the Sikh protesters still remained unmoved. At last, they convinced the Sikh attendees by saying that the decision of ending the Bargari agitation depends upon Bhai Dhian Singh Mand.
“We are not ending the agitation instead we’re changing its outline,” said Bhai Dhian Singh Mand while addressing the gathering at Bargari after two hours long deliberation with other Sikh leaders.
“We will not undergo any tactical deal with the Punjab government and will also ensure the release of Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara” claimed Bhai Dhian Singh Mand watching no way out to get rid of Sikh wrath prevailing at the Bargari gathering today.
“I will stay in Bargari tomorrow to honor those who made contributions in the Bargari agitation and will pay obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib for the ‘successes’ witnessed by the Bargari agitation” he said while announcing to disclose the details of next phase later.
Jathedar Mand also refuted allegations that Panthik leaders misappropriated funds meant for the protest. He said organizers had spent Rupees 12.6 million of Rupees 14.8 million were received as donation in last 192 days.
It may be recalled here that Bhai Dhian Singh Mand had started a peaceful agitation seeking the following demands:
- Release of political Sikh prisoners languishing in jails
- Arrest and Punishment to those who committed sacrilege of a holy corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib stolen from village Burj Jawahar Singh Wala
- The arrest of Police cops who opened fire on peacefully protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura and Behbal Klan
Till date, the Punjab government has only arrested Sirsa cult affiliated sacrilege culprits but failed to take any action against those ordering the sacrilege while sitting in the headquarters of Sirsa cult. Beside it, the Punjab government has recently ordered the release of political Sikh prisoner Bhai Dilbag Singh Bagaa while promising of releasing several others.
However, the Punjab government has depicted a full-fledged cooperative approach towards the Police cops responsible for opening firing on the peacefully protesting Sikhs at Kotkapura and Behbal Klan. The Punjab government gave enough time to the guilty Police cops to secure a stay against their arrest from the Punjab & Haryana High Court.
Punjab government’s cooperative approach towards the Police cops has made it clear that the victims of state excesses can’t expect justice in India as the state machinery will protect its tools at any cost.
