22 Mar 2019 10:28 PM PDTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Punjabi University (Patiala) has finally decided to destroy the 24,000 copies of the republished edition of Sikh encyclopedia “Mahan Kosh” authored by Bhai Kaan Singh Nabha. Notably, the Punjabi University had republished the Sikh encyclopedia in 2017 but its sale was banned on July 19, 2017 when several mistakes and altercations in the republished edition were noted and raised by the scholars.
An eight member committee was also appointed to probe the matter which had submitted its report to the University authorities. The sale of this republished edition was kept banned till today.
On being contacted by media, Committee member Harpal Singh Pannu informed that the committee has thoroughly checked the republished edition of this 2500 page Sikh encyclopedia.
He added that the committee noticed 400 mistakes on the first 33 pages only. 
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the probe committee has decided to correct the mistakes and once again publish the latest version of Sikh encyclopedia.
The committee members have also endorsed to identify the officials and professors responsible for making mistakes in the republished edition as the University had to face a huge loss due to these mistakes. As per an estimate, the Punjabi University spent Rupees 27.5 million to complete the republishing of this encyclopedia which defines 64263 words of Gurmukhi script.
As per the information availed by sources, the process of republishing the Sikh encyclopedia in three languages (Punjabi, Hindi and English) had started in 2007 and got concluded in 2016. The translators were paid Rupees 1600 per page while the correction makers and proof readers were paid Rupees 1200 and Rupees 400 per page respectively.
