                                               Puta Mata ki Asis!
                                               ਪੂਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸੀਸ ॥
This is another popular shabad we love to hear on our child's birthday!
The flow of Gurbani is larger and deeper then ocean! In-depth research and insight into it is required for understanding the message. By and large banee is addressed to our subtle body. Considering the subject verse of Guru Arjun (GGS: 496), modern generation rarely listen to their parents! They are on their own, like hero! Let us try to understand this verse line by line as enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. In His first line Guru says……
(Jis simraṯ sabẖ kilvikẖ nāsėh piṯrī ho▫e uḏẖāro.)
Remembering Akal Purakh, the Almighrt God, all our sins are erased, and the whole generations are saved.
(So har har ṯumĥ saḏ hī jāpahu jā kā anṯ na pāro. ||1||)
So engross and continuously remember the Lord, Akal Purakh who is limitless.
(Pūṯā māṯā kī āsīs.)
O my child, this is your mother's good wishes and prayers too,
(Here the child is Munn and the mother is Mutt!)
 * Guru Nanak “maataa mat pitaa santokh, sat bhaa-ee kar ayhu visaykh”.
Let wisdom be your mother, and contentment your father, Let Truth be your brother - these are your best relatives. (GGS: 151)
* Also Guru Ramdas said “mat maataa mat jee-o naam mukh raamaa, santokh pitaa kar gur purakh ajnamaa”.  Make that teaching your mother that it may teach you to keep the Lord's Name in your mouth. Let contentment be your father; the Guru is the Primal Being, beyond birth or incarnation. (GGS: 172) @ Guru Ramdas also said “kaaN-i-aa nagar ik baalak vasi-aa khin pal thir na rahaa-ee”. Guru Ramdas: Within the body-village there lives a child who cannot hold still, even for a moment. (GGS: 1191), and this is human mind.
(Nimakẖ na bisara▫o ṯumĥ ka▫o har har saḏā bẖajahu jagḏīs.) (rahā▫o)
May you never forget the Almighty Lord, Waheguru even for a moment? ||1||Pause||
(Saṯgur ṯumĥ ka▫o ho▫e ḏa▫i▫ālā saṯsang ṯerī parīṯ.)
May Waheguru be kind enough and bless you with the holy company of saints, the Saadh Sangat.
(Kāpaṛ paṯ parmesar rākẖī bẖojan kīrṯan nīṯ.) ||2||
Here kapar is our physical body, and this is being controlled by Akal Purakh, the Lord of Universe. All the organs of our body are programmed and they are tuned in Hukam. Breathing, blood circulations, digestion of food and waste removal all is automatic that is the preservation of your honor is also by the Transcendent Lord.   Amrit kirtan or melodious shabad is ambrosial food (Bhojan) for the soul within. ||2||
(Amriṯ pīvhu saḏā cẖir jīvhu har simraṯ ananḏ ananṯā.)
So Guru says drink in the Ambrosial Nectar any time you can, with this; may you live long, and may the constant memory of the Lord (Waheguru) give you infinite delight.
(Rang ṯamāsā pūran āsā kabėh na bi▫āpai cẖinṯā. ||3||)
Joy and pleasure will be yours all the time; and your hopes will be fulfilled, and may you never be troubled by worries. ||3||
ar ṯumĥārā ih man hova▫o har cẖarṇā hohu ka▫ulā.)
Let this mind of yours be the bumble bee, and let the Lord's feet be the lotus flower.According to Gurbani mind (Munn) is the cluster of Surt, Mutt, Munn, and Budh, as said in japji Sahib “tithai gharhee-ai surat mat man buDh”. The intuitive consciousness, intellect and understanding of the mind are shaped there. (Saram Khand, ggs: 8). So Guru says: let your Surt (consciousness) be the bumble bee and let the lord's feet (not physical but shabad guru) be the lotus flower.  Baba Nanak all ready said on page 943 of GGS: -
“sabad guroo surat Dhun chaylaa”.
(The Shabad is the Guru, upon whom I lovingly focus my consciousness; I am the chaylaa, the disciple)
(Nānak ḏās un sang laptā▫i▫o ji▫o būʼnḏėh cẖāṯrik ma▫ulā. ||4||3||4||)
Says servant Nanak, my mind is tuned in shabad guru and attached to Akal Purakh. Thus my surt-munn blossoms forth like the song-bird, upon finding the rain-drop.
