ANANDPUR SAHIB (July 26, 2015)—Parkash anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Singh Ji to be celebrated in 2017 will neutralize the clash between plaintiffs of Bikrami and Nanakshahi calendar as both factions will have to celebrate the anniversary helplessly on the same day. It is notable that controversy over Nanakshahi Calendar had created a vertical division among the Sikhs.
The SGPC follows Bikrami Calendar labeling it as amended ‘Nanakshahi Calendar’, while the Sikh diaspora residing abroad had exhibited refusal to the amended Calendar by marking Gurpurabs according to Nanakshahi Calendar of 2003. However fortunately, both calendars have depictedJanuary 5 for the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
