Supreme Court of India Lifts Ban on Sadda Haq Movie
NEW DELHI (April 27, 2013)–The Supreme Court today cleared the release of Punjabi movie Sadda Haq on the recommendation of a 5 member committee after watching the film.  The special committee comprised of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice AR Dave, Justice Vikramjit Sain and 4 Senior Advocates Rajeev Bhavan, Fali.S Nariman, Indira Jai Singh and Rebecca John. The Bench has asked the producers of the movie not to make use of the “controversial” song by Jazzy Bains and to revise the classification of movie under A (restricted to adults)  listing.
The movie had been banned on 4 April by the governments of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu apprehending law and order problem but the panel did not agree with this. The movie is based on freedom movement of Punjab during the 198os.  The movie telecasts the terror that reigned during those times.
Producer and actor of the movie Kuljinder Sidhu has expressed happiness over the court’s decision and said that movie is going to be released soon.
Karnail Singh Peermohammed (President All India Sikh Student Federation) stated that although India boasts to be the largest democracy of the world, the Sikh community always has to fight for its rights. He condemned the decision of CM Badal on imposing a ban on the movie and favoured court’s decision on lifting the ban.
