Radio Hosts Suspended for Referring NJ’s Sikh Attorney General as a ‘Turban Man’

Gurbir Singh Grewal as a ‘turban man’ by a pair of radio hosts, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal has said that the radio anchors have manifested their frustration towards the Sikhs. Terming the incident as an insult of a Sikh, he said that the radio anchors have proved that some people were still jealous of the achievements of Sikhs in America.
Longowal said that a Sikh is recognized in all over the world due to the full-fledged natural face and body blessed by the great Sikh masters. He added that the turban doesn’t only represent the Sikh identity, but also a religious symbol for Sikhs.
Longowal has appealed the Indian Foreign Minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj to rake up the issue before the American government so that no one could hurt Sikh sentiments with such racial slurs in the future.
It may be recalled here that the radio hosts, Dennis Malloy and Judi Franco of New Jersey 101.5/WKXW-FM, had referred to S. Gurbir Singh Grewal as a “turban man” on July 25 while discussing Grewal’s recent announcement in which he asked prosecutors to delay cases concerning marijuana-related offenses for a month.

On July 26, the duo radio hosts were suspended for 10 days for making derogatory comments about the state’s attorney general, S. Gurbir Singh Grewal, including calling him “turban man.”
