NEW DELHI, India—The Supreme Court of India is all set to start hearing on the Sajjan Kumar’s petition against the Delhi High Court’s verdict on January 14.
Notably, Sajjan Kumar was imprisoned for life by the Delhi High Court on December 17 in a case pertaining to brutal killing of five members of a Sikh family in the Raj Nagar of Delhi’s cantonment area on November 1, 1984.

It is learnt that a Supreme Court’s bench headed by the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi will take up the Sajjan Kumar’s plea for hearing on January 14.
It may be recalled here that Sajjan Kumar had surrendered before the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Aditi Garg on December 31 last year. He was sent to Mandoli jail situated in the North-East of India’s national capital New Delhi.
Although, Sajjan Kumar had placed a demand before the Court to send him to Tihar Jail citing security reasons but the Court had not accepted his demand. However, the Mandoli jail staff was directed to ensure security of Sajjan Kumar due to which he is being kept away from the Sikh prisoners
