11 Jan 2019 06:41 PM PSTCHANDIGARH, Punjab—Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and three others were held guilty of murdering the Journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati by the Special CBI Court in Panchkula on January 11. Notably, Journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati was killed by the two Sirsa cult disciples Kuldeep and Nirmal on October 24, 2002 who later succumbed to his injuries on November 21, 2002, at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
It is learnt that the rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is currently serving life sentence for raping her two disciples in Rohtak jail, appeared before the Court via video conference.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s former driver Khatta Singh, who has witnessed against Gurmeet Ram Rahim in this case, told the media that the Sirsa cult chief fell numb when the CBI Court addressed its verdict. “The Judge once again repeated his words to make Gurmeet Ram Rahim listen following which Gurmeet Ram Rahim moved his head slightly” he added.
It may be recalled here that Kuldeep, who had shot at Chhatrapati outside his house, had arrived on the scene with Nirmal on a scooter. Nirmal had managed to flee on the scooter, but the police nabbed Kuldeep from the spot. He had revealed the name of cult manager Krishan Lal who had provided a revolver to them.
During the investigation, it had come to fore that the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim had ordered Kuldeep, Nirmal and Krishan Lal to murder Journalist Chhatrapati as he had exposed the reality of sexual exploitation of female disciples in the Sirsa cult in May-2002.
The Punjab & Haryana High Court had handed over the investigation of this case to the CBI on November 10, 2003 on the request of Chhatrapati’s son Anshul Chhatrapati.
