15 Jan 2019 07:09 PM PSTNEW DELHI, India—The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has announced to oppose the Sajjan Kumar’s bail plea which is likely to be taken up by the Supreme Court after six weeks. Notably, the prosecution lawyer HS Phoolka has been already intimated by the Supreme Court of India about Sajjan Kumar’s plea challenging Delhi High Court’s statement.
In a statement released on January 14, the DSGMC member Manjinder Singh Sirsa has said that Sajjan Kumar was a highly influential political personality who japed the Indian law system for about 34 years. He added that the Delhi High Court had also given a remark about Sajjan Kumar’s political influence in the verdict addressed on December 17 last year.
“If Sajjan Kumar gets bail, he will do anything to influence the proceedings of cases against him. Other cases of Sikh genocide will also get influenced,” he added.
It may be recalled here that Sajjan Kumar’s petition challenging the Delhi High Court’s verdict was taken up for hearing by the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on January 14. However, the Chief Justice had made it clear that Kumar’s plea for suspension of sentence and grant of bail will be taken up after six weeks.
