1984 Memorial to be Constructed at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib in Delhi
NEW DELHI (May 22, 2013)–The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has announced plans to construct a memorial for 1984 anti-Sikh genocide victims at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib. The announcement has come after a memorial was recently inaugurated in Sri Amritsar Sahib, inside the Darbar Sahib complex.
A special meeting is expected to take place this week to discuss the plan for the memorial. The DSGMC executive body has asked the general house to give approval for the construction. If such a memorial is constructed in

In a press statement, Manjit Singh GK alleged that his party was in favour of renaming the Punjabi Bagh to remember the victims of the 1984 Genocide but this move was opposed largely by the Congress party. Paramjit Sarna, former President of DSGMC, had also announced plans to construct a memorial, however he was ousted recently in the DSGMC elections.
