Dal (United) provokes Modi, says 'Govt. led by him is full of criminals'
By ANI | ANI
Patna, June 29 (ANI): The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday lashed out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, saying the government led by him is full of criminals.
Janata Dal (United) leader Shivanand Tiwari said the Ishrat Jahan case has always been controversial.
"The controversy always was that this was a fake encounter. Now, it has been proven that the encounter was fake. It is said that Modi was close to a CBI Director. Rajinder Kumar the IB personnel, is believed to be close to Narendra Modi. There are so many criminals in the Gujarat Government, a thing Modi boasts of a lot," said Tiwari.
Tewari further alleged that Modi doesn't deserve to be the BJP's Prime Ministerial face, as his government in Ahmedabad is full of controversies, He also sighted the example of controversy surrounding Modi's former Home Minister Amit Shah to justify his statement.
Amit Shah is currently under judicial bail as one of the accused for kidnapping and encounter killing by the State Police of Sohrabuddin Shaikh, his wife Kauserbi and their friend Tulsiram Prajapati. The Supreme Court has directed that while his bail is under challenge, he is not permitted to enter his home state of Gujarat where he may influence the investigations, as he was the Home Minister during the encounter killing.
According to reports, the CBI is likely to question Amit Shah to verify if he had known about the conspiracy.
The CBI earlier this month grilled Intelligence Bureau (IB) Special Director Rajender Kumar at an unknown location in Gandhinagar in connection with his role in the alleged fake encounter of Ishrat Jahan and three others by Ahmedabad police.
The CBI, which is investigating the case on the directive of the Gujarat High Court, wants to charge the then Ahmedabad IB station chief Rajender Kumar for conspiracy to murder.
Nineteen-year-old Ishrat was killed along with three others on June 15, 2004 allegedly by a team of Crime Branch officials on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
The Crime Branch had then claimed that the four were LeT members and were on a mission to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi. (ANI)
