As the entire world deals with the threat from Covid-19, I hope that you all are safe and have access to essentials during the lockdown.
2020 has been a very challenging year for our government in Delhi. Just about when we streamlined massive relief operations for the riot-affected, we had to spring into action to deal with the Covid-19 challenge. Fortunately, many AAPians like yourself have come together and eased the situation with compassion and ingenuity, enabling swift and praiseworthy actions in both cases.
Ever since the formation of the task force to tackle Covid-19 on March 4th, we have seen a steady progression of timely, data-driven policy decisions from CM Arvind Kejriwal that have comforted and been appreciated by the population at large.
- Making arrangements for decent quarantine facilities for incoming passengers
- Proactively disinfecting buses and metros every day and making the disinfection facility available for taxis and autos
- Minimizing spread of the virus by first closing primary schools, then all schools, to a full lockdown
- Providing financial support, ration and meals to the needy ensuring that nobody sleeps hungry
- Scaling up food distribution centers and permitting 24x7 essentials for effective social distancing
- Efficient e-pass system to allow smooth movement of essential service providers and so on.
