When will the pandemic peak in India?
Dear Balbir Singh Sooch,
The stock market can fox the canniest. And it’s a puzzle to many why the global markets have rallied in a recessionary environment. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has now sounded a warning. It believes investors are betting on “continued and unprecedented support by central banks” to financial markets and are ignoring the depressed state of the global economy. In other words, the surge in stocks may not be backed by fundamentals.
So, while some quality stocks may appear to be available at bargains, investors on Dalal Street, too, may do well to be cautious, and perhaps think slightly long-term. Patience can often be a virtue in the stock market – it has been amply demonstrated by the iconic Warren Buffett over the decades.
